Black Ice

I know shatters and crackles aren't the "it" thing anymore this year but I realized I've never even used this once! It almost feels like a crime for buying something and not using it cause I'm wasting money lol. So, I bought the silver polish from Urban Planet to pair up the two together because black crackle isn't as versatile as I thought it would be; at least not compatible enough with my relatively small collection (compared to the true nail polish addicts out there....my colour selection is kind of...quite...sad haha). The combination came out well and to my surprise, the silver polish has a sandy and rough textured finish. I'm relieved that the rough surface didn't affect the crackle/shatter effect since there is a tendency for that to happen if the surface isn't smooth. Overall, I'm quite happy with my nails ^_^

  2. I quite like this effect although I've never bought a crackle polish before. :) I'm like you though - my nail polish collection is pitifully small compared to some out there! xx

  3. I also don't have a shatter nail polish as of yet, but this look is quite amazing. It's so fun watching the shatter work its magic and I love seeing the combinations people try to pair it with. The silver accent is compliments well with the black. If you're stuck for some ideas I've seen most people wear it with bright and bold colours for the base. ^^

    1. Yea the crackle effect is quite amusing the watch. Thanks for the idea; you're right I think bright colours underneath will go well with black shatter but I don't have much aside from a yellow...my nail polish collection is quite pitiful lol >_<

  7. This is a striking combination, I wouldn't have thought to pair silver with black shatter. I like the way that the black shatter has shattered (for lack of a better word :p), it has such a cool effect. Shatter nails are fun, especially to experiment with what to paint as the base coat :)

    1. hahaha no worries...when i was writing up this post i had trouble finding other adjectives to replace "shatter" or "crackle XD - it's also fun to watch it oxidize in air and watch the effect happen. :P right now, i just need to expand my nail polish collection more to have better base colors for this hehehe :P (perfect excuse to buy more!)

  8. I love the black and silver combination!! Very cool! I am such a laggard on the shatter/ crackling nail polishes.. black ice sounds like a much cooler name by the way.

    1. hahaha, don't worry bout it honestly, shatter/crackle is great only up to an extent in time. The effect is cool but not something that people will stick to after the hype died down lol. :P And thanks, glad you like the title hehe. <3

    1. Which crackle/shatter polish brand did you purchase? I'm not sure about now, but when they first came out everyone told me that the OPI sucked at giving this effect! Even the girl who sold me this polish online told me she was reselling hers and buying the China Glaze version lol so I got pretty lucky.
