Face Framing
One of the most challenging makeup products to purchase, in my opinion, are brow products. I've been searching for the perfect brow product to match my black hair since the beginning of time when I first started out with makeup. A lot of the brow powders that I've come across are either too brown, too black, too light, too dark or has that hinge of red or orange. They never satisfied my needy sparse eyebrows, so what I usually did was mix two different eyeshadows, blend it out with a spooly and then brush it through with a brow gel. Exactly. A hassle. Aside from curling my lashes, filling in my eyebrows are the most time consuming processes in my makeup routine.
I recently bought this Anastasia brow powder duo from Sephora when they had the 15% VIB discount event. Some of you guys may know this from my upload on instagram. The packaging is super pretty and very sleek with a mirror inside (not that I'd use it anyways cause it's so small but I guess it's nice to have for traveling purposes). The shade that I have is Dark Brown and the product only comes with 1.6 grams which is extremely expensive for $30. But, I can't complain when I finally found a product that compliments my deep dark black hair. The darker shade is a true medium brown (hooray for no undertones!) that is not too dark and not too light. Just perfect. The lighter shade although looks very light in the pan is actually a taupe brown perfect for filling in the beginning of the brow to create a natural gradient (or as it claims "for dimension" on the packaging). Often times while doing my old routine, I find that my eyebrows lack "dimension" and can easily look dull and sometimes too dark for that reason. As for longevity, I do notice that the ends of my brows on the side where I have bangs do last longer and fade less than compared to using eyeshadows. On the side without bangs, there are no fading problems for eyeshadows or this duo.

You might be interested in the anastasia brow gel. I use the colour espresso on my sister's sparse black brows and it really thickens up the hairs and keeps them in place. I would totally recommend it!
ReplyDeleteOoo sounds great! I'll definitely check that out cause my brow gel is starting to run out! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I've had this exact same problem as you, so many products just don't work with my black asian hair! I absolutely hated brown brow products with a red undertone- it looked so awful and mismatched. I actually just recently purchased the Shu Uemura Hard Formula Brow pencil in Stone Gray which is the perfect colour match! It is such an easy to use pencil too that isn't too dark and gives such a natural finish :)
ReplyDeleteOh my sister uses that one but different shade. She loves it too so ibmight get it later, for now I feel like powder is easiest for me haha :)
DeleteI've heard so many great things about this brand and their brow products. Looks like you've finally found something that really works for you and your colouring :) I know what you mean by certain brow powders or pencils creating a dull/flat look without dimension. I guess I'm pretty lucky in that I have fairly full brows so I don't need to fill them in - I reckon I'd be really hopeless with it if I ever had to :p
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm pretty happy about it. And u are so lucky to not have to fill in your eyebrows! Jelly! :P
DeleteI just purchased the brow powder in graphite. Was debating on this colour too.
ReplyDeleteCan we follow each other?xx
