Till The Skyfalls 007
Happy December everyone! I thought I would have more time in November to blog but I was wrong. The hectic-ness did not stop as hoped. It feels like forever since I've last posted but I'm back now. I also have some exciting things to share - I have officially caught up with technology and have a smart phone now. Le ghetto no more!! HUUURRAYYY! Which means, you can now find me on instagram and you'll definitely see more updates from me on there when you notice I'm mia on blogger. :)
......
Step 1: Prime your eyelids with an eye primer and then apply a thin layer of creamy black base all over the lids and spread evenly
Step 2: Using a crease brush, pack on matte black eyeshadow over the lids while slightly blending the colour upwards towards but just right beneath the crease or eye socket area.
Step 3: Dip a flat smudger brush into the black eyeshadow and apply it to the inner corner of the eyes for a defined look. Then use it to create a dramatic wing on the outer corner of the eyes.
Step 4: With a fluffy blending brush, slightly blend out the harsh edges of the black eyeshadow with a medium dark brown eyeshadow for a gradient effect.
Step 5: Line your water line with a black pencil eyeliner as well as the lower lashline (not shown) and then set the lower lash line with the black eyeshadow for longevity as well as softening the harsh pencil for a smokey effect.
Step 6: Next, take a shimmery dark charcoal or (in my case) shimmery dark brown and apply it to the inner third of the lids, tear duct and inner third of the lower lash line for a subtle brightening effect.
Step 7: Highlight the browbone with a matte white eyeshadow
Step 8: Curl your lashes, apply mascara and pop on some dramatic false lashes. Eyeliner is not necessary for this look since your eyeshadow is already black and no one would be able to tell anyways. ;)
And viola! C'est fini! Well....not quite because we still have the lips. If you're like me and don't have the perfect dark plum wine lipstick you can simply mix the colour of two different lipsticks like I have done to complete the look. I first lined my lips with a nude lip pencil liner (NYX Lip Pencil in Nude Pink) because any bold lip colour requires a nice clean finishing edge. Then I applied Revlon's Va Va Violet and using a lip brush, I topped it with a red lipstick (NYX Round Lipstick in Eros) until I got the desired colour. The other night, I finally had the chance to pick up my new toy - YSL Glossy Stain in Violet Edition. So in the photo below I have placed the mixed lip color beside the YSL one for comparison. (And yes, expect a haul and several reviews soon!)
Classy look turned gangster with my beanie and sweater haha
Mixed Lip Colour vs. YSL Lipstain
** By the way, please excuse the inconsistency in the quality of the photos. Long story short: the current winter weather in raincouver does not provide the best natural/day lighting. So I had to use two different cameras - one good, one bad. So yeah....overall this tutorial was a pain in the butt!
